Villager Names

de Serilum

Villager Names assigns random identities to every unnamed villager from a 5,000-plus pool, shows professions on trade screens, and supports custom name lists via config.

Ce face acest proiect

What the mod does Villager Names detects every villager entity that lacks a custom name and assigns one from a built-in pool of more than 5,000 male and female entries. The naming runs once for existing villagers and again for any that spawn later, so the world feels populated without manual effort. On the trade screen the villager's profession appears next to the name, localized to the game language, making it easy to distinguish a librarian from a farmer at a glance. ## Custom name lists On first load the mod creates customnames.txt in the config/villagernames folder. You can fill the file with any comma-separated names you like, then enable useCustomNames to draw from that list instead of the defaults. A separate toggle useBothCustomAndDefaultNames lets you combine both pools, and shouldCapitalizeNames automatically capitalizes each word in your custom entries. ## Modded villagers and commands By default the mod also names villagers added by other mods. If you encounter a villager-like entity that remains unnamed, the author requests a report on the issue tracker so the entity can be added to the internal whitelist. Three server-side commands let administrators manage names on the fly: /villagernames unname removes names from all loaded villagers, /villagernames name assigns names to those still unnamed, and /villagernames rename re-rolls a fresh name for every loaded villager. ## Trade-screen tweaks Several config flags control the trade-screen line: showProfessionOnTradeScreen toggles the profession text, switchNameAndProfessionTradeScreen swaps the order of name and profession, and hideMerchantLevelTradeScreen hides the novice/apprentice/journeyman/expert/master level indicator. ## Compatibility and sides The mod runs on Fabric, Forge, Neoforge, and Quilt. Supported Minecraft versions are 26.3, 26.2, 26.1.2, 1.21.11, 1.21.1, 1.21, and 1.20.1. The client side is optional - players without the mod can still join - but the server side is required for the naming logic to function. The license is All Rights Reserved, though the author permits use in any modpack as long as the download remains hosted on CurseForge or Modrinth.
