Axes Are Weapons

por Fourmisain

Axes Are Weapons fixes Minecraft's durability bug where axes break twice as fast as swords. It also adds Looting and other sword enchantments to axes via config.

Qué hace este proyecto

The Problem

Minecraft treats axes as mining tools, not weapons. This classification creates two annoying issues. First, axes lose two durability points per hit instead of one. Second, you can't apply sword-specific enchantments like Looting to them. If you use an axe for combat, you know this frustration. You watch your gear degrade twice as fast and miss out on loot bonuses that swords get for free.

How It Works

This mod changes the game logic to treat axes as weapons. When you hit a mob with an axe, it now loses only one durability point, matching the behavior of swords. This simple change extends the life of your gear significantly. You no longer need to swap to a sword just to conserve durability during long fights.

The mod also unlocks enchantment compatibility. Here's the thing, by default, damage enchantments like Sharpness, Smite, and Bane of Arthropods appear in the Enchanting Table for axes. This means you can enchant them directly without relying on enchanted books. The mod also enables Looting for axes, allowing you to increase mob drops when using an axe. Other sword enchantments, such as Knockback and Fire Aspect, can be enabled through the configuration file. Modded sword enchantments can also be included if you've other mods installed.

Configuration and Options

The mod uses Cloth Config for its settings. This gives you control over what is enabled. Some features are on by default, while others are off. For example, fast Cobweb breaking is disabled by default. You can turn it on if you want axes to break cobwebs faster. There's also an "All Tools Are Weapons" option. This lets you configure which other tools or items should be treated as weapons for durability and enchantment purposes. Keep in mind that changes to the Enchanting Table options also affect loot found in chests and structures. If you change what can be enchanted, you change what can be found.

Compatibility and Requirements

This mod is designed to run on the server side. It is marked as required for servers and unsupported on the client side. This means players do not need to install it to join your server. However, there's one exception. If you enable the fast Cobweb breaking feature, the client must also have the mod installed and the setting enabled for it to work. Otherwise, the client won't see the visual effect of the fast breaking.

The mod supports Fabric, NeoForge, and Forge. It works with Minecraft versions 1.18, 1.18.1, 1.18.2, 1.19, 1.19.1, 1.19.2, 1.19.3, 1.19.4, 1.20, 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, and 26.3. You must have Cloth Config installed for the mod to function. Fabric users also need Fabric API. The mod is licensed under the MIT License, which allows for broad use and modification.

Who's This For?

This mod is for players who use axes in combat. If you prefer the reach and damage of an axe over a sword, this mod removes the penalty for that choice. It's also for server admins who want to give their players more flexibility in how they build their gear. The configuration options allow you to tailor the experience to your server's rules. Whether you want a small quality-of-life fix or a broader change to how tools work, this mod provides the controls to do it.
