Combat Roll

por ZsoltMolnarrr

Combat Roll adds a rollable dodge to Minecraft, bound to R by default. Gear attributes and three enchantments tune its distance, cooldown and number of rolls. Both client and server need it.

Qué hace este proyecto

What Combat Roll does

Combat Roll gives players a dodge. Press R by default and your character rolls in the direction you're already heading. Forward, backward and sideways all work.

It suits players who want movement to count in a fight. It also suits server owners who want rolling to be something armor can improve, since most of its numbers are tunable.

How rolling works

The default cooldown is 4 seconds, and a server can change it. A default roll carries you 3 blocks, and that distance is server configurable too. Each player starts with one roll before waiting on the cooldown.

Rolling isn't free. It adds exhaustion, which is the hunger drain, and the amount can be set on the server. You also can't roll while using an item, jumping or swimming.

A HUD indicator shows your cooldown. The repository describes it as an arrow that also shows how many rolls you've left. That project page says the cooldown display is client configurable.

There's an optional invulnerability frames setting. It's off by default. To turn it on, edit config/combatroll/server.json5.

Attributes

The mod adds new entity attributes for distance, recharge and count. Distance sets how far a roll goes. Recharge sets how fast the cooldown recovers. Count sets how many rolls you can chain before waiting.

Both the project page and the repository show /give commands that attach these attributes to armor pieces. The examples use boots for distance, leggings for recharge and a helmet for count. That's handy for modpack makers and server admins who hand out custom gear.

Enchantments

Three enchantments feed the same system.

Multi-Roll goes on helmets and grants one extra roll per level. Acrobat goes on chests and legs and speeds up cooldown recovery by 10% per level. The repository lists those two armor versions as Acrobat's Shirt and Acrobat's Pants. Longfooted goes on boots and adds 1 block of roll distance per level.

Compatibility and setup notes

The Modrinth page lists Fabric and NeoForge as supported loaders. And that listed Minecraft versions are 26.3, 26.2, 1.21.7, 1.21.6, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.1.1 and 26.1. Those are the only versions the project declares, so don't assume anything in between.

The mod is required on both the client and the server. If you play on a server, the server needs it installed too.

On Fabric, client settings open through Mod Menu. Honestly, server settings live in the config directory once you've run the game with the mod installed. The repository says the mod has high compatibility with Better Combat. So it doesn't spell out what that covers, so check before building a pack around it.

The latest repository release adds player statistics for rolls and rolled distance.
