Six in Survival: a loom stops accepting patterns once a banner has 6 layers. With commands, Java banners can hold more, and the game draws up to 16 layers.

Sixteen, the same colors as wool: white, orange, magenta, light blue, yellow, lime, pink, gray, light gray, cyan, purple, blue, brown, green, red and black.

Place a banner in the left slot and a dye in the middle slot. Pattern choices appear; pick one and take the result. For special designs, also put a banner pattern item in the right slot. Each pattern adds one layer on top of the ones already there.

Flower, Creeper, Skull, Thing (Mojang), Globe, Snout (Piglin), Flow, Guster, Field Masoned and Bordure Indented. The item is not used up, so one is enough for as many banners as you like.

Yes. Put the patterned banner and a blank banner of the same base color in a crafting grid. You get the original back plus an identical copy.

Yes. Craft a shield together with the banner; the banner is used up and the shield shows the design at a lower resolution. The shield must not already have a pattern.

No. Bedrock /give cannot set banner patterns, so the generator only offers the command for Java 1.20.5 and newer. On Bedrock, follow the loom steps instead; Bedrock can also add many patterns in a crafting table.

Use the banner on a cauldron with water to wash off the top layer. Repeat to remove more layers.
