Overview
Default advancements in Minecraft open in a small box in the middle of your display. Better Advancements changes that layout. The mod is created by way2muchnoise as a direct successor to BetterAchievements. It's built for Minecraft 1.12 and newer versions in modded environments. Its entire scope is cosmetic adjustments and quality of life.
The project doesn't alter core game mechanics. It gives you a cleaner, wider window to track your progress.
Interface adjustments
The primary change is the interface scale. Instead of a cramped frame, the advancement window expands to fill your screen. Tracking wide advancement trees becomes much easier.
Small visual tweaks are also included:
- The title of the active tab appears directly in the title of the advancement interface.
- Description boxes can grow slightly larger so the text is easier to read.
- A setting lets you stop the background from fading when you hover your cursor over it.
- You can change the color of advancement icons instead of keeping the default gray, blue, and orange.
These options help players who run custom modpacks or manage many modded advancement tabs.
Development and creator resources
If you make resource packs, you can customize how these menus look. Honestly, the author maintains a wiki page with details on how to create textures for Better Advancements compared to vanilla Minecraft.
For pack creators who design custom advancement trees, the author suggests looking into Triumph instead. Compatibility and setup
Better Advancements is strictly client side. You install it on your local client instance. The mod is unsupported on servers, which means server administrators do not need to install it in server mod directories.
The mod supports Forge, Neoforge, and Fabric mod loaders. On Modrinth, verified supported Minecraft versions include 1.20.1 and 26.1.2. Fabric support is also noted for version 1.18.2 and newer. The project is distributed under the LicenseRef-Dont-Be-a-Jerk license.
