What chloride adds to sodium
(Sodium) Chloride is a client-side performance and utility addon for Sodium made by SrRapero720. If you run Sodium and want more control over rendering and visuals, this mod adds those toggles directly to your settings menu.
It doesn't work on servers. You install it strictly on the client. It supports Fabric, Forge, and Neoforge loaders across Minecraft versions 26.2, 26.1.2, 1.21.11, 1.20.1, and 1.21.1.
Performance and rendering tweaks
The mod focuses on cutting down unnecessary rendering work.
Distance culling stops the game from rendering and ticking entities and block entities when they are far away. You can use a whitelist so critical mobs stay visible. Leaves culling drops interior faces on matching leaf blocks, with an adjustment slider to choose how aggressively you cull them.
On versions below 26.2, you can replace animated chest and bed models with solid static models. Look, you can toggle each model type on its own.
Language reloads finish in under one second. If you use item recipe mods like JEI, REI, or EMI, Chloride hides their item grids until you start typing in the search bar. That keeps your inventory screen clean.
On Minecraft 26.2, the mod adds an engine hotswap toggle between OpenGL and Vulkan. You can switch between them in game without restarting your client. This feature is disabled by default, works with Sodium, and is incompatible with Iris.
Visual tools and interface options
Chloride also brings visual tweaks and interface overlays.
True darkness adds multiple light presets, ranging from dim to full blackness. Sunlight, moonlight, and placed torches affect how dark things get. If you want a cleaner view, you can hide nametags for players, entities, and item frames individually.
You get a configurable zoom key with scroll support.
An on-screen performance monitor displays your average FPS, minimum FPS, current FPS, memory percentage, and GPU percentage. You can drag it to any spot on your display, including above the hotbar.
Borderless fullscreen gives you fast tab switching and image-in-image support without black screen delays. You can bind it to F11 or override the standard fullscreen key. If you need extra frames on text-heavy screens, turning off font shadows can help.
A settings locker allows you to lock visual options so other players can't change them.
