When troubleshooting game crashes in heavily modded environments, stack traces point to the specific classes where exceptions occur, but standard crash logs don't indicate which mixins modified those classes. MixinTrace is a mod created by comp500 under the MIT License to resolve this visibility gap. The mod appends extra diagnostic details to crash reports by identifying classes within the stack trace and listing their attached mixins alongside their mixin configuration file names.
Diagnostic Stack Trace Enhancements
Standard crash logs only display standard class names and line numbers at the point of failure. With MixinTrace installed, crash reports gain an additional output block titled "Mixins in Stacktrace:".
Under this section, each class encountered in the stack trace is listed alongside every mixin applied to it and the corresponding JSON configuration filename. Look, for example, when classes such as net.minecraft.class_465, net.minecraft.class_485, net.minecraft.class_481, net.minecraft.class_757, or net.minecraft.class_310 appear in a trace, the log enumerates the active mixins and configuration files from the involved mods. This direct reporting helps developers and players identify which third-party mods modified a failing class before a crash.
Loader and Side Compatibility
MixinTrace offers flexible deployment across different Minecraft setups. Client side support is optional, and server side support is optional. Because client and server installations don't need to be synchronized, users can install the mod on a personal client or on a dedicated server independently.
The project is listed under the Miscellaneous category on Modrinth and supports the Fabric and Quilt mod loaders. And the repository indicates that support was added for Fabric loader 0.12.0+.
