Overview
Sodium Dynamic Lights is a client-side Java mod created by Txni. But it is an unofficial multiloader port of LambDynamicLights, which is also written as LambDynLights in project notes. The mod brings dynamic lighting configuration directly into the Sodium options menu. It also adds full settings integration when you use Embeddium.
The project is published under the open MIT License.
Core features and menu integration
The main purpose of the mod is porting LambDynamicLights to several loaders while connecting to popular video settings menus.
When you install Sodium, dynamic lighting options appear right inside the normal Sodium video settings interface. You can adjust lighting options without needing a separate config screen. Here's the thing, if you run Embeddium, the mod connects with that menu system in the exact same way.
The author notes that players using this mod might also like Sodium/Embeddium Extras.
Supported mod loaders and Minecraft versions
You can run this mod across multiple loaders depending on your setup. Supported mod loaders are:
- Fabric
- Forge
- Neoforge
The project record lists five specific Minecraft releases:
- 1.20
- 1.20.1
- 1.21.1
- 1.21.4
- 1.21.5
Compatibility applies strictly to these listed versions. Don't assume unlisted versions work. Do not treat the list as a continuous version range.
Client and server side requirements
Client installation is required. The mod handles lighting display changes and video configuration menus on your local machine.
Server installation is unsupported. Do not install this file on dedicated Minecraft servers. It's built for client rendering and display settings, so servers have no use for it. Putting it on your client is all you need.
Categorization and licensing
The project is listed under two categories on Modrinth: Building & Decoration, and Performance. These tags reflect its focus on lighting adjustments alongside renderers like Sodium and Embeddium.
It is licensed under the MIT License, which governs its distribution.
