How the mod works
nightvision plus changes how your client displays dark environments. Instead of applying a standard potion status effect to your character, the mod simulates the visual effect locally on your own machine. You can see clearly in dark areas without brewing potions.
Because this visual adjustment is simulated on the client side, standard in-game triggers will not clear it. You won't lose your view if you drink milk, respawn after dying, trigger a totem of undying, or pick up a hostile status effect. The night vision remains active until you explicitly toggle it off.
It stays on through everything.
Controls and configuration
You control the mod using chat commands. Entering /toggle switches the night vision on or off. You can also run /nightvisionplus, which functions as an exact command alias.
Your toggle state saves automatically. The mod creates a configuration file at config/nightvisionplus.json and updates the enabled field when you make a change. These preferences are tracked per player profile. When you exit a world or restart your game client, your chosen visibility setting is preserved.
Client and server setup
This is a client-side mod. You must install it on your personal game client, and server-side installation is unsupported.
Because the mod runs on your client and requires no permission nodes or server-side mod setup, it works across different multiplayer servers. Honestly, so it simulates lighting locally, so it does not alter server gameplay balance or affect what other players see.
Getting it running takes only a few steps. Drop the downloaded mod file into your client mods folder. You need Fabric Loader installed on your system. Folks who try this don't need to install Fabric API. Once installed, log into your singleplayer world or join a multiplayer server and run the toggle command.
