这个项目能做什么

What Adaptive Tooltips does

Adaptive Tooltips is a mod by isxander that changes how Minecraft positions and draws tooltips. Its aim is to keep long tooltips readable, which matters most in modded games, where tooltips often run too long to fit on the screen. The mod is released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0.

The fixes come as toggleable options, so you decide which ones to use. The Modrinth listing files the mod under Game Mechanics and Utility & Quality of Life.

Text wrapping

When a line is too long for the screen, the mod breaks it between words instead of in the middle of one. Four wrapping methods are offered:

  • Screen Width: lines are limited to the width of the screen minus 15.
  • Remaining Width: lines may fill the space left until the tooltip reaches the screen edge. The mod picks the left or right side, whichever needs less wrapping.
  • Half Screen Width: tooltips are limited to half of the screen width.
  • Smart: only lines that are considerably longer than the others get wrapped, with a hard limit of three quarters of the screen width.

Placement options

In vanilla, a tooltip taller than the screen has its bottom limited to the screen edge. And that lets you read the bottom but not the top. Prioritize Tooltip Top addresses this.

Bedrock Centering centers a tooltip that's too long to fit on either the left or the right, matching what Bedrock Edition does. Look, it's best paired with Screen Width wrapping.

Align To Corner is the fallback. If the other fixes do not keep a tooltip on screen, it places the tooltip in one of the four window corners. It chooses the corner that obstructs the mouse cursor least.

Scrolling and transparency

Tooltips can scroll both vertically and horizontally, with smooth animations. You can tune the scroll direction and the sensitivity. The mod can tell different tooltips apart and discards scrolling data when necessary.

A transparency setting lets you adjust how see-through tooltips are. This helps when a tooltip covers the next few items in your inventory.

There's also a YACL-style option. It copies the tooltip positioning of YetAnotherConfigLib by placing tooltips above or below a hovered button.

Compatibility

The listed mod loaders are Fabric, Neoforge and Quilt.

The listed Minecraft versions are 26.2, 26.1.2, 26.1.1, 26.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.1, 1.19.4, 1.19.3, 1.19.2, 1.19.1 and 1.19. These are individual versions taken from the listing, not one continuous range.
