AsyncParticles

作者 Harvey_Husky

AsyncParticles offloads particle vertex transformations to the GPU and runs particle ticking asynchronously on Fabric and NeoForge clients to reduce CPU load.

这个项目能做什么

What it does

AsyncParticles moves particle vertex transformations directly to your graphics card. Offloading these calculations reduces per-frame data uploads to the GPU and lowers CPU load. It improves frame rates.

This mod is strictly client side and unsupported on servers. It supports Fabric and NeoForge loaders on Minecraft versions 26.3, 1.21.1, 26.3-rc-3, 26.2, 26.1.2, 26.1.1, 26.1, and 1.21.11.

Core processing changes

Beyond moving particle transformations to the GPU, the mod handles several particle operations off the main thread.

Async particle ticking updates particle logic in background threads. An async particle light cache speeds up lighting checks. Particle culling stops the game from drawing particles that you can't see. The mod also delays texture ticking by one frame, which reduces the duration of the client tick. Async particle vertex extraction remains in the mod, but it stays disabled by default in favor of GPU acceleration.

Integrations and compatibility

AsyncParticles includes integrations for moving machinery from Create. Create contraptions can block vanilla weather, and particles can collide directly with contraptions.

The mod is proactively compatible with Sodium, Embeddium, Iris, Oculus, Flerovium, Create, Create: Aeronautics, Valkyrien Skies, Particle Rain, and Particle Core. Recommended companion mods include ModernFix, Sodium, Embeddium, Flerovium, and Starlight or ScalableLux.

Don't run AsyncParticles with OptiFine or MadParticle. Here's the thing, both are explicitly listed as incompatible.

Configuration and fixes

You can change settings through ModMenu or ModList. The mod includes diagnostics, so you'll get a prompt in the chat window if your settings need adjustment.

If you encounter mod conflicts, several configuration options exist:

  • With Bosses Rise, turn on the GPU Only Async Particle Tick setting.
  • With BadOptimizations, set enable_particle_manager_optimization to false in badoptimizations.txt.
  • With PhysicsMod, disable Async Weather Tick. There's no guaranteed compatibility with PhysicsMod.
  • If C2ME crashes, set enforceSafeWorldRandomAccess to false in c2me.toml.
  • If LodestoneLib crashes, set buffer_particles to false in lodestone-client.toml.
  • For crashes involving ClassInstanceMultiMap or entity lookups, enable the mixin option to make ClassInstanceMultiMap thread-safe.
  • For crashes related to Level.getBlockEntity, enable the mixin option to make LevelChunk block entities thread-safe.

The default particle rendering mode is set to SYNCHRONOUSLY. This prevents concurrency errors with mods that read thread-unsafe containers during particle passes. You can switch the rendering mode to FASTEST in the config screen if you want to test higher frame rates, but this carries risk with incompatible mods.
