Overview
Chat Plus replaces the vanilla chat renderer, giving you a fully customisable chat experience. But it adds a larger, functional scrollbar and removes the default "Server message. Can't be reported" sidebar, making chat easier to read and interact with.
Visual Customisation
- Position & Size: Move the chat box anywhere on the screen and resize it to any width or height.
- Appearance: Change background colour, opacity, text opacity, scale, line spacing, outline and padding. You can also set unfocused opacity, unfocused height, and choose left, centre or right alignment, as well as top-down or bottom-up message direction.
- Tabs & Windows: Create multiple chat windows with tabs that can be generated automatically. Tab notifications alert you to new messages.
- Additional Tweaks: Increase the maximum number of stored messages and command suggestions, and adjust scroll speed for faster or slower navigation.
Interaction Features
- Copy, Translate & Screenshot: Right-click a message (or a selection of messages) to copy text, translate it instantly, or take a screenshot that can be auto-uploaded to Imgur.
- Bookmarks & Highlights: Bookmark messages manually or via user-defined regex patterns, then jump back to them. Lines can be highlighted automatically based on those patterns, and the currently hovered line is highlighted for quick reference.
- Search & Peek: Find specific messages and jump directly to them, or peek at the chat without opening the full window.
- Timestamps & Player Heads: Each message can show a timestamp and the sender’s player head for clearer context.
Language Support
Chat Plus can automatically translate incoming messages using user-defined regexes. You can also control-click messages to translate on demand, send messages in different languages, and use speech-to-text via VOSK models placed in config/chatplus/models. The speech system works with push-to-talk and can auto-translate the transcribed text.
Compatibility & Requirements
- Side: Client-side only; no server component is required.
- Loaders: Works with Fabric and NeoForge.
- Minecraft Versions: Officially supports versions 26.2, 26.1.2, 26.1.1, 26.1, 1.21.11, 1.21.10, and 1.21.9.
- Mod Interactions: Because it overrides the vanilla chat renderer, any other mod that mixes into the chat renderer may conflict.
Getting Started
Download Chat Plus from Modrinth, place the JAR in your mods folder, and launch the game with Fabric or NeoForge. Here's the thing, on first launch a configuration file is generated where you can fine-tune all the options described above.
