What this mod adds

Happy Ghast puts a friendly, rideable ghast into the game. It's modeled on the happy ghast shown at Minecraft Live. Modrinth files it under two categories: Mobs and Transportation.

That pairing describes it well. The ghast is a creature in its own right, and it also serves as a mount.

Riding your ghast

To ride, you craft a harness and equip it on your ghast. Once the harness is on, the ghast can be ridden.

The mod also lets you step onto the top of the ghast. The project lists this as one of its current features.

Several players can ride together, because the mod includes multiple passenger support.

Harnesses are available in all 16 wool colors, so each wool color has a matching harness.

How to get a Happy Ghast

The process begins in the Nether, where you can find a dried ghast. Hydrate it with water and it becomes a ghastling.

From there, you've two ways to finish. You can simply wait, or you can feed the ghastling snowballs. Honestly, either route turns it into a Happy Ghast.

In short, the stages run like this:

Happy Ghast, after waiting or feeding snowballs

Loaders and Minecraft versions

The project supports three mod loaders: Forge, Neoforge and Fabric.

The listed Minecraft versions are 1.18.2, 1.21.4, 1.21.1, 1.20.1 and 1.20.4. Each one is its own entry on the project page, so please do not treat them as a continuous range. Check that your exact version appears in that list before installing.

Client and server requirements

Modrinth marks the client side as required and the server side as required as well. Keep both labels in mind when you set up a world that other people will join.
