Icarus

What Icarus adds to the game Icarus is a small mod that puts a variety of colourful, unique wings into the Trinkets cape slot. You equip them like any other cape accessory and they let you fly. The wings are purely cosmetic in appearance but functional in movement. They don't replace elytra or add new enchantments. They simply give you another way to take off from the ground. ## How flight works Flying with Icarus wings costs hunger. Every second you stay airborne your food bar drops. If you run out of hunger you stop flying. Armour also matters. The more armour pieces you wear the slower your maximum flight speed becomes. At full armour you move at roughly two thirds of the base wing speed. That slowdown is configurable so you can adjust it or turn it off entirely. A datapack tag exists that lets pack makers mark specific wings as hunger free so they don't drain food while flying. ## Who this mod suits Players who use Trinkets and want a lightweight flight option without the grind of finding elytra. But it works well in modpacks that already include Trinkets because the wings slot into the same cape slot. The hunger cost keeps early game flight from feeling free and the armour penalty encourages travel gear choices. ## Compatibility and requirements The mod requires Trinkets on the client and the server. And it runs on Fabric, Quilt, Forge and Neoforge. Supported Minecraft versions are 1.20.1 and 1.21.1. No other loaders or versions are listed. The author has stated they no longer develop for Forge so future Forge updates are unlikely. ## Configuration The armour speed penalty can be changed in the config file. Datapack authors can add wings to the hunger free tag without touching code. No other configuration options are documented in the primary sources.
